E.A.A.E - Development
I am currently developing a very simple handheld optotheremin for a costume party. It goes by the name of Ectoplasmacoustic Anomality-Extractor or E.A.A.E.
My aim is for it to look like a space age phaser in a steampunk outfit. The circuit is based on PopSci's Design, but I added a pair of toggle switches so I can switch between different photoresistors for the oscillator and the divider independently and a momentary on-off "trigger" switch.
Here's what the chassis looks like. The 0.75mm Copper sheeting was quite difficult to bend without the proper tools, but it turned out ok.
In a future mod, I might add an audio-output jack and change the big handweel's function: At the moment, it acts as a signal attenuator (=volume-knob), but i'd prefer a simple low-pass filter.
